Dear Exile

If you are a member of SAFE and live outside of Cheshire and Greater Manchester, I am writing to advise you that you are eligible to join "SAFE in Exile".

This is a special section of SAFE to provide information for those of us who live away from the Altrincham locality. I have lived in Oxfordshire for 9 years so I know very well the difficulties of travelling to matches especially while we are temporarily in the Unibond Premier League.

I am co-ordinating this new facility and hope to offer the following to Exiles;

1. Details of cheap accommodation in the Altrincham area for when attending home matches. I know how expensive a trip to a home game can be and how tiring it is to arrive just before the match and return home after the final whistle. I am compiling a list of Altrincham-based fans who are willing to accommodate Exile fans overnight at low or no cost. Of course when we return to the Conference, you might be able to reciprocate, let me know if you can. I already have a list of bed and breakfasts in the Altrincham and Sale areas.

2. Transport sharing or meeting fellow fans on route. If you live along the route to Altrincham of a fellow Exile, I can co-ordinate lifts or if using public transport then meeting places. Let me know your regular route and if you can pick someone up or meet someone during your journey to a match.

3. I will represent you at SAFE Committee meetings and can raise issues, make suggestions and comments.

4. I’m setting up a section on the official Altrincham F.C. website for Exiles in SAFE on the SAFE page.

5. I hope to provide a special newsletter for Exiles but in the meantime will have an Exile section in the SAFE newsletter.

6. I can arrange mail order for merchandise from the club shop.

7. Anything else that you the Exiles want and I can manage – please let me have your ideas!

For the rest of the 2000/2001 season, there will be no charge for this facility. Once we have had a trial period to the end of the current season. This will be reviewed at the SAFE AGM. However you may wish to make a donation, please indicate on the below form.

To make this work, I need as many Altrincham Exiles to join as possible from around the country (and elsewhere). The more members there are, the more facilities can be provided. Please print out and return this form to me to register yourself as an Exile or e-mail me at the above address. Please answer all questions.
