Paul Ellender's transfer completed

Paul Ellender's transfer fee from Gainsborough Trinity was the subject of a dispute between the two clubs and the dispute was sent to an FA Tribunal for resolution. This has now been done and Paul became a member of Altrincham AFC for a fee reported to be £9,000.00. He is now available for selection.

Altrincham's push to reclaim their GM Vauxhall Conference status has received another boost - with the sixth major signing of the close season.

Robins moved into the transfer market again to secure the services of Macclesfield striker Phil Power.

He joins ex-Coventry captain Brian Kilcline at Moss lane as the team aim to storm their way out of the UniBond League.

The influential 30-year-old increases the competition for places up front at Moss Lane with Keith Russell, Neil Hardy and Nathan Comley-Excell watching their backs as manager Bernard Taylor adds to his strike force.

It is a major coup for the club after tracking the player for some time before securing his signature on a two-year contract.

There's another bonus for Altrincham as the player moves across Cheshire under the Bosman ruling since being out of contract at Moss Rose.

The man dubbed 'The Maltese Falcon' thanks to being half-Maltese has scored consistently at both conference and league level with seven goals from sixteen starts during the last campaign.

Power was at Stalybridge Celtic as a youngster and was due to go into league football with Bournemouth until he broke his leg on the eve of the move.

Instead he ended up at Macclesfield and was chased by several conference sides before he plumped for the ambitions of Altrincham.

Robin's manager Bernard Taylor told SAM sport: It is a marvellous signing for us after tracking Phil for a long, long time.

"He is not only a tremendous player, but a superb personality who is brilliant in the dressing room.

"The experience that he will bring with him will be vital to young players like Nathan Comley-Excell who can only improve with players like Phil and Brian Kilcline on the training ground."

It is something of a reunion for Taylor and Power who worked together at Barrow and the signing has proved the player's loyalty after the two spoke during last season about the move.

Bernard continued: "It was all completed in one morning and I am pleased for the club and the fantastic supporters who deserve an ambitious outlook.

"I have received tremendous backing from the club and the chairman and I am hoping that before the first pre-season match against Stockport on July 25 I can secure the services of a goalkeeper to strengthen that position and the squad even further."

Bernard added that the quality that has come into the club would benefit everyone with all the new signings agreeing to help coach local schoolchildren as well as raise the community profile of Altrincham FC.
