BRIEF COMPANY HISTORY
Heyrod Construction Ltd was founded in February 1978 by the present Managing Director, Mr Frank Gillespie, originally with a view to providing a specialist formwork/steelfixing service in the field of structural reinforced concrete.
The company was soon winning significant subcontract orders in bridgeworks and highway structures, water authority work in the form of sewage treatment works, box reservoirs, pumping stations etc, and has progressed through industrial buildings and multi-storey concrete frames structures such as car parks and large office blocks. The company has developed a professional management team and a suitably experienced labour force at times numbering up to 500 personnel. A comprehensive list of plant and equipment has been acquired to compliment these activities.
Once the company had been established structurally and financially, diversification was inevitable and in recent years the company has been active in the civil engineering sector in terms of carriageway construction, reconstruction, main drainage, reclamation of derelict land, hard and soft landscaping etc. 'The building section of the company has undertaken projects in new build, design and build and refurbishment.
The company is now tendering and working directly for local authorities and Architects, together with such well known companies as Zeneca and Manchester International Airport PLC.
Our construction sites benefit from the support of our head office facilities which include our temporary works department, programming and planning engineers, quality assurance manager, estimating department, plant department workshops and fabrication yard.
During our financial year ending 30th March 1999, you may note that despite the recession and the present unfavourable climate, the company generated a turnover of £22 million and, through astute management, continued to trade profitably.
